This afternoon the class looked at and discussed a range of Easter themed art. They talked as a group about what they could see in each picture and then went deeper by discussing how each picture was telling us something about Jesus’s victory when he rose from the dead. Maddi and Liv talked sensitivity and intelligently about the symbolism of each picture pointing out how Jesus was a light for us all to follow. Alex W noticed the dice in the most abstract of the paintings and decided they were there to remind Christians that it didn’t matter how many times they made bad choices in their lives, if they said sorry to God, he would forgive over and over…
The paintings inspired the children to begin designing their own art work to show Jesus’s victory at Easter which they will finish and present in next week’s lesson.
In our final two RE lessons this half term, we will learn about the Ascension of Jesus and the Christian festival of Pentecost.
