A Parent's Guide to Reading

Our children here at Inskip are encouraged to enjoy the wide variety of great fiction and non-fiction books that we have in our library, classroom libraries and the book banded books that we send home and use in guided reading when they are learning to read. The book banded books are the ones that are levelled with a colour 'band' allowing us the match the level of difficulty of a book to a child's ability. We use two main reading schemes which are Oxford Reading Tree and Collins Big Cat but these are supplemented by some books from Ginn's  All Aboard and a selection of non-scheme books that have been given a book band colour suited to their level of difficulty.
