Our new topic this half term is how plants reproduce.
To begin, we looked at the different parts of a plant. This included lots of parts we had seen before in lower school but also some new ones. We looked more closely at what was inside the flowering part of a plant and learned the names for each part. We then took some real flowers and pulled them apart to try and identify the parts beside our diagrams. We looked at how the stigma was important for transferring pollen to insects and other pollinators.
Next week, we will build on our learning and see why plants need to transfer their pollen and what the other parts of a flower are responsible for.
