Each term we dip in and out of science learning about plants, observing what is growing at different times of the year. The children build up their knowledge and understanding of seasonal changes and the different stages of, and needs for, plant growth.
Yesterday, we had a discussion about flowers that grow from bulbs and ones that grow from seeds. The children had a close look at the different parts of some daffodils and hyacinths questioning what they saw. They also went on a hunt outdoors looking for plants shooting up through the soil and noticing changes in nature.
Next week they will be taking a close look at some different types of flowers and investigating the insides of the bulbs.
