Today the children in Upper School learnt about how day and night occur on the Earth. It is such a difficult concept to get around your head (especially that the Earth is spinning at 1000 miles an hour) that they had A LOT of questions before we could go onto completing our demonstrations using the globes and torches. The class worked in pairs to video themselves demonstrating the spin of Earth on its axis and then used torches as the sun to create day and night. David gave us a particularly good description of this concept and Beth went even further by telling us which countries were in night while we were having day time!
