We began a new topic in English this week-Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare! The children are already enjoying reading the script and as part of our lesson on Wednesday, the class rehearsed either act 1, scene 1 where the Montagues and Capulets fight in the streets or Act 1, scene 3 where Lady Capulet speaks to Juliet about getting married. After some rehearsals in the classroom, we went outside to the stage on our school field to perform the scenes. This was great fun and really useful for the children to help them understand the characters and the plot.  They write some brilliant descriptions of their scenes the next day using a range of multi-clause sentences.
