Our science topic at the moment is ‘Living Things and Their Habiitats’ and alongside this topic the children are building on their knowledge from earlier in the year by learning about the life cycle of a butterfly first hand. 

Maddison and Reagan’s mum Mrs Fox has very kindly bought the class a kit which included a voucher for some live caterpillars. I ordered our caterpillars and 33 tiny caterpillars arrived in the post! The caterpillars have grown so quickly in just a few days and the children are fascinated by them! It is giving them a fantastic opportunity to develop their scientific observation and enquiry skills. We are checking them daily and really looking forward to watching their transformation as they turn into butterflies.
