The children really enjoyed making a healthy wrap this week after accepting the challenge from Mrs Billington (see this previous post https://inskip.lancs.sch.uk/blog/2022-03-31-16-00-00-dt-design-challenge ). 

Building on their prior learning about different food groups the children sorted the ingredients I had brought into school into proteins, dairy, vegetables and fruit and carbohydrates. Then after washing their hands they washed and prepared the food ready to chop and taste. 

I gave them the task of combining three different foods, taking one from each food group (except the wrap as that was our chosen carbohydrate) and evaluating each one. They gave each one a score and described it with adjectives before choosing their highest scoring combination and then using that to make their final healthy wrap. Finally after eating their final design they reviewed it and checked to see if they had met the original design criteria.
