As part of our stone age day, the children had the opportunity to try some primitive fire-lighting. They used a ferro rod to create sparks to begin with. We were so proud that every single child managed to do this part as it can be quite tricky. Next, the children tried to use their sparks to set a piece of cotton wool alight. As a class we were really successful!
I am so happy that we had this chance to have a practical outdoor session to explore the challenges people faced in the past. The children definitely left having had a great experience - and a whole new appreciation for our modern conveniences!
