Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend!

Today's star of the blog is Nathaniel's brilliant spiral painting, I love all the different colours you have used Nathaniel.

Are you exercising with Joe at 9.00am today?

At 9.30am today you can watch the latest episode of learning activities created for you by Lancashire Professional Development Services on youtube https://youtu.be/0ayoRW6bYRs as it goes live. Here are your activities to choose from today ...

Phonics

Play Phonicsplay and review some sounds you need practise with then practise building and blending your phonics by reading a book.

Reading and Responding

Please look at the plans I have sent you on email.

Reception - Please choose an activity from the ones around Owl Babies.

Year 1- Do you know any of the Mr Men and Little Miss characters? Today you are going to meet some and then choose one of your favourites. Make a character profile poster by drawing a picture of them and then write some sentences which describe their appearance, what they like/dislike and anything else you find out about

Year 2 - We love Oliver Jeffers stories, we have read quite a few together before lockdown. Today have a listen to How To Catch A Star and then imagine you are the boy in the story. Your task is to write a letter to an astronomer (someone who studies stars and space) asking them for help to catch a star.

Maths

Reception your learning can be found on the white rose maths site - today your learning is to learn the days of the week and do fun activities around Julia Donaldson's story The Princess and the Wizard. You can find it here https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/

Year 1 - Today your activity is to practise counting in twos from 0 to 50.  Find it here https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z693rj6

Year 2 - Today your activity is to learn how to recognise a unit fraction as one equal part of a whole.  Find it here https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z4j83j6

Don’t forget to choose your own topic learning today. If you'd like to do the suggested learning on BBC Bitesize you can learn about Elizabeth Fry on the Year 2 page. Elizabeth Fry worked for what she believed was right and so that some of the poorest people, facing the hardest of times, could hope for a better life. Find out how she did this. Or you could learn about the life, actions and achievements of Mohandas Gandhi on the Year 1 page.

Have a great day!

Mrs Kemp
