Phonics (reading and spelling)
Please try to spend 10 minutes (or more if you would like to) on a phonics activity to keep making your brains bigger and reminding yourself how to read and spell sounds. Reception - please choose an activity from your 'Shark in the Park' by Nick Sharratt ideas
Year 1 - please do the activities for Day 2 from 'Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy' by Lynley Dodd. Children remember to join in with the bits that are repeated like ' and Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's dairy' just like we do when we are reading stories together at school and you join in with me. In today's activity when you write about you favourite dogs you could also write about your own dog if you have one (even though it isn't in the story!).
Year 2 - please do the activities for Day 2 around Julia Donaldson book Characters. The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child is on BBC i player to watch. The activity asks you to collect words and phrases that means think of and jot down describing words (adjectives) and try your best to think of ones that we would describe as green words on our traffic light system (interesting and great words).
