Today in Maths, Upper School used the coloured cubes to explore what volume meant and how we can work out the volume of cubes and cuboids. First we counted cubes and discussed that it was similar to finding area but in 3D! Next, we made cubes and cuboids and found that we didn’t need to count every single cube, we could count a layer and then multiply that by however many layers there were! Connor went even further and started to noticed that you could multiply the length and the width and then multiply that with the height of a cube or cuboid. Eventually, the whole class were working independently to find volumes of shapes that didn’t have cubes anymore and only had measurements to go by…a big step forward! Well done Year 5/6!
