Middle school’s science topic this half term is electricity! Last week, we investigated which appliances use electricity and where they source their electricity. Some items used batteries and others used mains. This week, we investigated how electricity travelled. We learned about how electricity is conducted through wires and how it needs to pass through metals to travel. We also learned about how to stay safe when near electricity and wrote down our top three rules for safety!
By the end of the lesson we could all make a lightbulb light up, a buzzer buzz, a motor spin and a switch control the flow of electric.
We learned that electricity needs to flow in a circle called a circuit.
Next week, we will use our knowledge of circuits investigate which materials allow electricity to flow through them.
