Over the past three weeks, Upper School has been learning about the season of Advent and the significance to Christians of the Advent Wreath. The children have learnt about the meaning of each of the candles-prophets Isaiah and Micah, John the Baptist and Mary Mother of Jesus. This week we also finished off making the School Advent Wreath with some evergreen plants. The children found out that the wreath is decorated with red berries as a symbol of Jesus’ blood shed when he was sacrificed on the cross and the green leaves remind Christians of the everlasting love of God for His People. On Thursday we will find out about the last two candles and light the first candle in our first Advent Worship on Friday an afternoon.
