We have started reading a new novel in our English lessons. It is call The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q Rauf. It is all about a new pupil who joins the class under mysterious circumstances and he doesn’t seem to be able to speak. The narrator of the story is one of the pupils and tries to befriend the new boy. Upper School have been using inference skills to try and work out what is going on in the plot and also used role play to imagine conversations that might happen between the narrator and the new boy. Here are some photos of the children preparing their role plays. We are going to use them to practice writing speech correctly in our narratives.
