The Jolly Postman came to visit!!!

In Lower School, we have been enjoying ANOTHER story - 'The Jolly Postman' by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. Much like Sunny in the Meerkat Mail, the main character goes on a journey...and we have been enjoying meeting all of the different characters who The Jolly Postman delivers to on his way.

We were UNBELIEVABLY lucky last week to have a very special visitor... The Jolly Postman himself! He even brought us a parcel FILLED with goodies (just for Lower School)!

The children loved asking lots of questions and hearing about what it is like to deliver all of the post around the village in the story. He told us that he loves delivering to the Three Bears and how Cinderella is always lovely.

We also asked about things that have changed for The Jolly Postman over the years. He told us that he used to deliver much more letters than he does now. Nowadays, he delivers more parcels. 

We also asked how maps help him to find his way around and what is included on an envelope to make sure the right mail is delivered to the right place.

We loved The Jolly Postman visiting and have been busy writing all about his visit and writing letters to him and the characters in the story since.
