This week, Upper School have been thrown into a creative project that we discussed as being a ‘buy one get two free’ learning experience! Their project wonderfully combines Art, English and Science and they’ve worked their little socks off to produce incredible non-chronological reports on unique hybrid species and a piece of creative writing to accompany it.

When considering their species, Upper School had to think of which parts of known animals they wanted to include and what the overall appearance would be. They also considered a variety of details: habitat, diet, food chains, behaviour, young, hunting, changes as they grow, measurements.

They produced detailed labelled drawings and many did some extra research to add finer details to their species.

This afternoon, Upper School have used their fabulous reports as inspiration for a piece of creative writing. They could choose to write a news report to share the excitement of the new species, a persuasive letter to the government requesting research funding, or a diary entry to share their feelings regarding the discovery.

I can’t wait to read them!
