As part of our science and art learning this term we have been noticing the changes in seasons and nature around us. On our visit to Humblescough Farm last week https://inskip.lancs.sch.uk/blog/2022-09-29-18-23-02-humblescough-farm we observed closely the leaves on the trees and ground preparing for our art project knowing that artists are inspired by their environment.

Using a variety of leaves we collected the children have been drawing in their sketchbooks. They used careful looking to practise observational drawing and held the leaves to make their drawing focused on the way the leaves felt.

The children became familiar with exercises like continuous line drawing and freely drawing. They developed their hand eye coordination through slow drawing and understood that they can explore an object through touch to help with their drawing. In their discussions they talked about the range of colours they saw in the leaves.

The children also experimenting with using wax crayons to do some leaf rubbings.
