Year 6 had an amazing day at Hothersall Lodge! We began the day on canoes in lovely warm sunshine and enjoyed learning to paddle, to work together and competed in fun canoeing games. After that there was only one thing to do…jump in the lake and cool off!
After our yummy packed lunches were devoured, we headed into the woods for some tree climbing and zip wiring. Lots of fears were overcome and it was great to hear the boys encouraging each other so well!
We were all starving again by 5pm and were really grateful for pizza, chips and in Tom’s words, ‘The best chocolate brownie ever!’
Even though everyone was starting to flag with full tummies, we were soon off again into the woods to complete the gorge challenge…team work, mud and water were all involved and a great time was had! The boys tried to imagine they were soldiers in the First World War trying to make it in the trenches…
After another good soaking to clean off the mud, it was suddenly 8pm and time for home.
Well done, Year 6…what a fabulous and fun day!
