Progressing from drawing (see previous blog post https://inskip.lancs.sch.uk/blog/2022-06-03-08-39-26-art-portrait-drawing) the children have used watercolours to paint their portraits of the queen.
For most of the children it was the first time they had used watercolour paint and a chance to learn new skills. They experimented with colour, seeing how adding more water changed the strength of the colour and how to add more water to their picture to move the colour around. They also learnt how to use the brush properly, that they needed to be gentle and stroke the paint and their paper so that they didn’t ‘give their brush a headache’!
Their paintings are going to go up in a gallery along the corridor near our main enterance, come into school and view the finished, fabulous portraits!
