After learning about the colour wheel and how to make secondary colours  (see previous blog post https://inskip.lancs.sch.uk/blog/2022-03-24-15-15-00-colour ) the children spent some time experimenting with mixing tertiary colours adding more and more of the primary colour to the mix to create different shades. 

The children painted hearts (which are going to be part of their cards for their mums for Mother’s Day) in the colours they created. The reason we chose heart shapes to paint is because we decided they are a symbol of love and after reading the fabulous picture book ‘Slug in Love’ by Rachel Bright and Nadia Shireen. The book was very kindly sent to me via instagram and tells the story of Doug a slug who goes in search of a hug and finds someone to love. The story allowed us to explore more of our PSHE learning as we revisited some prior learning around the question ‘Who is special to us?’.

I was very impressed by the children's progression in skills, they remembered which primary colours made the secondary and were using great adjectives to name the new shades they were creating. Well done everyone!
