This week we have spent some time in class learning about the chronology of how we came to be where we are in Britain.
Understanding the order of historical events that led us to where we are today is extremely important in contextualising many learning points across all subjects.
Children enjoyed learning how old the Earth was and how little time humans have spent here. They looked at how ancient people travelled across Doggerland into Palaeolithic Britain and how this began the stone age. We ordered events in history and looked at a brief overview of how and why the timeline transitioned as it did, as well as some key features from each period.
Children came up with their own questions and we placed them on the timeline together.
