The children have been developing their art skills. Firstly the Year 1 and 2 children they a timed exercise where they practised looking closely at an object and doing some continuous lined drawings.
Then we all looked closely at fireworks (whilst listening to Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks) and sketched them in their sketch books looking at shape and line developing ideas for their final piece of art work.
Continuous Line Drawing
After the continuous line drawing the children practised drawing different fireworks in their sketch books in pencil.
The Reception children used wax crayons and experimented creating lots of spirals and different shapes whilst the Year 1 and 2 children explored using oil pastels. They practised using the pastels, learning how they differ to other mediums they have used before and the effects they can create. Then after some experimenting they started on their ‘Fireworks in the Night Sky’ picture!
