Middle school found a unique opportinity to learn some more about bees and their importance when we found a tired bumblebee on the playground. We carefully picked her up and gave her some sugar water to drink. This was a fantastic time for the children to learn about how bees help the environment and how we can help to protect bees. We could link our bee (which we named Dandelion) to our science from last term, acknowledging that she was an insect, which is an invertibrate arthropod! Some children even realised that bumblebees are not as scary as they first thought and actually very friendly!
