Children have recently been recapping their mental and written subtraction and addition. To use our skills in a real-life way, children were given the challenge to plan a week's worth of meals. This included breakfast, dinner and tea for each day of the week. The challenge came in that the children had to make their meals as varied as possible, mostly healthy and as cheap as possible! They navigated the Asda Grocieries webpage to find the prices and ingredients to make up their desired recipes.
Children had to use their mental and written maths skills to keep up with their totals through addition. They also had to use their subtraction skills to take off items they didn't need or make a dish healthier.
