The stars of the blog this morning are Miss Haynes's Dad's pigs!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking to all our new children starting in September and their parents on the phone. I am so excited to be welcoming you to our Inskip family Sophia, Isabella, Lilly, Olivia, William, Duke, Tom, Alex, Ben and Reuben! We are going to have so much fun together.

Keeping our children safe online is crucial, here is an article for parents and carers that you might find useful https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents/articles/keeping-your-under-five-safe-online/ especially for our Reception children and our new starters in 2020.

Activities for you to choose from today ...

Phonics (reading and spelling)

Reception and Year 1 children If you would like to do a page in your phonics workbooks (the ones made by CGP) please do so.

Don't forget to watch the episodes of Alphablocks on CBeebies to help you learn your sounds too.

Please try to spend 10 minutes (or more if you would like to) on a phonics activity to keep making your brains bigger and reminding yourself how to read and spell sounds. You can go on https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk or Teach Your Monster To Read https://www.teachyourmonstertoread.com (which is also available as an app).

Reading and Responding

Please look at the plans I sent to you on Friday for this today's activities ...

Reception - Big, Bad Bugs!  I saw some great bug hunting happening yesterday from Maddison, Abigail and Isabella. Maddison has had some caterpillars delivered to her house (so have Tommy and his sister Lilly) so she can watch them change into butterflies. Please choose one of your activities to do today.

Year 1 - The Highway Rat by Julia Donaldson. Today you are going to read the book (if you have a copy at home) or watch it, following the link on your plan. Then I would like you to draw a picture of him and write a description of him (we call it a character profile). I saw some great learning yesterday, Tyreece taught me a fact that I didn't know it is that rats are very clean animals and are even cleaner than cats!

Year 2 - Recipes. Today you are going to look at the bossy (imperative) verbs in the instructions of the recipes. Then you can make some Gruffalo Mouse Toast - yum yum!

Maths

Today's maths activities can be found at White Rose Maths Home Learning by clicking on this link https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/.

Choose your year group, watch the Flashback video first and answer the questions before you have a go at the activities.

Reception - Day 2 -  The Hungry Caterpillar.

Year 1 - Lesson 2 - Fact families - linking addition and subtraction (1)

Year Two - Lesson 2 - Compare number sentences

You don't need to print the worksheets out, you can write the answers on a piece of paper or simply tell the adult you are working with the answers to the questions.

Topic

Today's topic lesson is geography.
