We love maths! Our Year 1 and 2 children have been learning doubles and near doubles and then applying their knowledge to help them solve addition and subtraction problems. 
 

In these photos (taken over a few days) you can see the children playing different games. The first two games asked them in pairs to roll two dice, when they rolled a double they scored one point. Both players had to check their partner’s were reading the dice correctly. The winner was the child with the most points. They repeated the game another day this time scoring a point if they rolled a near double. On a further day the children challenged each other to find the double of a number and to show it on their rekenreks before writing it down as a number sentence on their whiteboard.
