Middle School had an amazing trip this Tuesday to Chester zoo!

We saw so many wonderful animals and learned so much about how different classifications of animals actually look!
The day began with a walk through the dark and mysterious bat cave, where we saw some huge and some tiny bats. We spent the morning walking around the 'islands' area of the zoo. Here we saw orang-utans, sun bears and even a flash of a tiger!
After some lunch, we explored the rest of the zoo, coming face to face with lots of interesting types of animals.
We wandered across the penguins, who put on a show of swimming and diving for us. We thought they were a little tricky to classify as they really didn't act like birds! We walked into huge jungle houses were we saw peaceful apes, huge pythons and jaguars!
There were just too many wonderful animals to list. Children had an excellent time consolidating their knowledge about the rainforest and about animal classifications from science... we even got a head start on learning about habitats and carnivore/omnivores.
