Our topic in DT this half term is mindful moments timer.
The children have been tasked with creating a timer to help when having quiet, mindful time to yourself. This week, we started by exploring what mindfulness is.
Children were introduced to mindful colouring. We experimented with colouring in the same image, but with different time constraints. First, 30 seconds. Then, 1 minute. Last, 2 minutes. Children discussed how they were calmer and less stressed out with the longer time limit!
We then tried some mindful breathing outdoors - having quiet time to lie and feel the grass barefoot to think about all of the sensations.
Finally, the children tried some relaxation meditation to music in the classroom.
We had a fun time trying out these different mindful methods - some of us definitely felt relaxed after!
