This year we had a unique and fantastic world book day... we were visited by an actual author! Shane Hegarty (author of 'The Shop of Impossible Ice Creams') came into school for a hilarious talk with the children.

Inspired by Shane's visit, middle school spent most of our morning creating our own impossible ice creams! Children all thought of different flavours and wrote them on a slip of paper. We threw all of these into our 'impossible ice cream machine' (a tub) and shook them up! Children picked out three random flavours and got to work on creating their ice creams. 

Children illustrated what this would look like and then wrote their own descriptions using adjectives, similes and powerful verbs!
