Our Reception children have been learning about zero this week in their maths learning as well as doing lots of counting.
As one of their continuous provision activities they have been matching and pairing socks. This activity gave lots of opportunities for maths and practising fine motor skills, strengthening their hands and fingers (ready for holding pencils and writing) by folding the socks into pairs. We also had lots of chat about dogs and caring for dogs inspired by the story My Dog Hen by David Mackintosh, that we have read this week.
The Year One children accessed learning through the activity by counting in twos and talking about patterns.
