Our new topic in geography this half term is earthquakes and volcanoes.

The children kicked off the topic by learning what a volcano was.
We then used https://www.volcanoesandearthquakes.com/ to look at all of the volcanoes and earthquakes happening in the world at the moment - as well as learning where erupting and unstable volcanoes are located.

After this, we investigated the layers of the earth and worked as a team to label them. Children used this knowledge of the layers of the Earth to inform them when it came to understanding how a volcano formed.

We ended the lesson by looking at some breath-taking drone footage from an Icelandic volcanic eruption.
