Progressing our science learning about everyday materials this week the children have carried out an investigation answering the question ‘which materials change shape?’. They have tested various objects, identified what materials they are made out of and discussed why the object is made out of that material. They embedded their knowledge about uses of everyday materials learnt last week through discussing and comparing the objects. The children considered the most suitable materials to use for a purpose and also investigated why sometimes the same object is made out of different materials (eg we looked at a wooden, metal and plastic spoon).
The children also took the opportunity to use the technical vocabulary they have been learning during their investigation eg they described the plastic bottle as transparent, versatile and durable!
