After our fantastic visit from Lauren Child last week, we came away feeling inspired!
Children have spent several days carefully creating their own versions of Lauren Child's beautiful books. They have attempted to emulate the style of her writing and illustrations to create their own version.
At the beginning of the week we read through Lauren Child's books and considered what they had in common - what were the themes and styles that she portrayed in each book? Children used this knowledge to begin to plan their own story using a story board based on their own idea.
We had some brilliant ideas, including flying for the first time, visiting the dentist and really, really wanting a pet dog!
After this, children wrote out their stories properly in their English books.
Once we all had a story down, we began to collage each page in Lauren Child's unique style.
Each character was carefully drawn on a piece of paper and cut out. We used old newspapers to get different photographs and textures like Lauren Child uses in her books. Once we were happy with our placement, we glued them down.
After each page was collaged, children wrote their stories within the books.
I can't wait to show the books off next half term - we are all very excited and proud of the effort we have put in!
