All the children made a snowy scene for a Christmas card to send home to their families this year using lots of different skills to create it.
They had to follow instructions carefully at each stage and did so well! First they created the snowy backdrop with wax crayons. Then they each drew two triangles to be their trees before cutting them out. They learnt about size and proportion and had a few goes at drawing the triangles before getting a size they though would be suitable.
Then they had the fun of decorating the trees. They had some lovely patterned green papers and plain papers to choose from to cut and stick onto their trees to create a design. We discussed a variety of designs; horizontal stripes, vertical stripes, diagonal stripes, layered jumbled pieces before the children chose and made their own designs. Their goal was to create two trees with a different design on each.
A lot of measuring and great discussion around size happened and they worked to create their designs. Well done children, I am really proud of you learning and your finished cards. I hope your families loved receiving them!
