Did you know that during Victorian times there could be up to 60 children in a class? That meant that 5 children would have to share just two chairs. We tried it! As you can see from the main photo we found that it would be very tricky to concentrate so squished and very difficult to write!
We talked lots about the similarities and differences in the classroom and how children learnt in school in Victorian times. We read our knowledge organisers and then did an activity sorting pictures of items from school in the past and now.
The children decided that they were happy to be living now rather than in the past especially when they learnt how children were punished with the cane and dunce’s cap.
