On Monday, children were introduced to forces. They learned that gravity pulled objects to the Earth. Children learned that two objects rubbing together will create friction. A type of friction the children learned about was air resistance, this was how the air passed over a falling or moving object. We learned that shapes with a greater surface area had a greater air resistance and would slow objects down.
To put our skills to the test, children were split into groups and given an egg.
They were asked to assure that their egg could survive being dropped from a height.
Many children created wide shapes, parachutes and lots of padding to work with forces to save their egg.
