Our EYFS children have been busy learning about animals along with Year 1 and Year 2 but doing slightly different activities. They went on an animal hunt and drew pictures of animals they saw in our field and over the hedges. After talking about what animals eat and where they live the children had lots of fun playing in the tuff tray sorting the animals into groups and thinking about where they live. There was lots of talk about the similarities and differences between the animals.
They also practised their phonics and writing skills by writing sentences about their favourite animal. They have also been naming all the parts of their bodies (we had fun playing Simon Says) and drew a picture of themselves and then labelled some of the parts of their bodies.
In maths they have been learning all about odd and even amounts and numbers. Outside they collected flowers off the field and collected odd and even amounts. They compared their amounts of flowers to their friends' and talked about what they found. They have also been learning how to share amounts out find half an amount and make equal groups.
Great learning!
