In our RE lesson today, we thought about what Jesus meant by ‘building strong foundations for our lives’.
The children were split into groups and given the task of building a bridge. Some of the groups were given clay to help them and some groups only had sellotape.
The children with clay made some really good bridges that held weight easily. The other groups were getting very frustrated and upset as they couldn’t make their straws and lolly sticks stand up without any foundations. They kept falling down.
The children then watched the parable of the two builders told by Jesus and we discussed and came up with ideas for what it means to build good foundations if you follow Jesus.
Words given were things like-

love one another, pray for your enemies, put other people ahead of yourself.
