Today we were very lucky to have a visit from Anthony Roberts, a local postman who came to tell us all about his job. In our English lessons we have been reading the book 'The Jolly Postman' to inspire our writing and so we were excited to welcome a real, jolly postman into school!
Before the visit the children thought of and wrote their own questions to ask Tony. They wanted to know what postmen and women do and understand the journey mail takes to reach its destination. Tony answered all the children's questions, told them lots of really interesting details about his job and how letters and parcels are delivered. He even brought the children a present of a small red post box, which we love! Have a look at the photographs below, click on a photo to read the comments to see what happened.
After Tony left to go and deliver the mail the children wrote some fantastic recounts of the visit. I was so impressed with how much they had learnt and enjoyed the visit.
Well done children and thank you very much to Tony for taking the time to come and see us!

What a lovely memory for the children to meet a friendly postman and see how it all works. It will be something that they will never forget. Maybe one of them will become a postman/woman one day X
