Mrs Kemp our Literacy Leader in school had a very exciting weekend running, WORD FEST Festival of the North, a literary festival, with her friend Elaine Silverwood from Book, Bean and Ice Cream the bookshop in Kirkham at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. Mrs Kemp met some famous authors and very kindly got each of them to sign a copy of their books for our children in school. Thank you to Elaine for generously giving these books (and others) as presents to our school.

Mrs Kemp was very lucky to spend time with Michael Morpurgo who is currently celebrating War Horse being in it’s 40th year, he signed a copy of the special anniversary edition of War Horse for our children. Michael also signed Mrs Kemp’s copy of Pig’s Might Fly a Mudpuddle Farm adventure, that she reads to her class with a special message inside. Miss Langley and Mrs Welsh came to see War Horse in Concert and really enjoyed it.

Mrs Kemp also worked with Paul O’Grady and Lenny Henry as they brought their new children’s books to the festival. Take a look at these photographs.
