What a fantastic time we had on our special Toilet Twinning day.

Year 6 took on the initiative after Mrs Heritage asked us to become involved. Our aim was to raise £60 to fund a toilet in a part of the world where families have to manage without a toilet or have one that is safe to use. During this non-uniform day,  children made a donation into our specially adapted toilet. Year 6 recorded an interview for BBC Radio Lancashire after lunch which was broadcast that evening (You can listen by clicking on the following link).

In the afternoon following a visit from the LEP photographer, Year 6 delivered a well prepared presentation to Upper School and invited guests, including Cllr Salter, representatives of the local businesses, members of the village community and parents. This informative presentation explained how each £60 raised not only funded the materials for a toilet but also provided education for the community about the need for sanitation.

The final part of our exciting day was our ‘No more soggy bottoms’ cake sale! Children and parents of Year 6 kindly donated some fantastic cakes for sale, which our guests enjoyed before the whole school came into the hall to buy their own treats too.

Having hoped to raise £60, we have been overwhelmed to have counted more than £400! As a result we hope to fund seven toilets, which will make an enormous difference to those in need. Well done to Year 6! We are very proud of you!
